Day 48 - Loumarin Friday Market and Apt

Loumarin's Friday Market is reputed (by some) to be the best in Provence!  For us, it scored some points for having the best town to host a market in.

Loumarin Friday Market

Lourmarin is very charming with narrow, winding streets

You must buy your bread here!  He constantly has a long line.  Interestingly, he sells by the kg.

We love the markets for their fresh produce!

I have to admit, we are not very good at the market thing.

1) We had a rough start because both of our GPS' didn't recognize "Loumarin".  I guess technology isn't always a good thing.

2) We arrived at 8:30 am which was too early - about half the booths were still setting up.  The proper thing to do would have been to sit down at a cafe to enjoy breakfast but instead we grabbed it to go and explored the town.

3) We aren't gourmets so do not appreciate the finest the markets have to offer.  Therefore, to us, Loumarin was just another market with the same goods.  After being in France for 2 weeks now, we were not interested in Loumarin's selection.

It was too early to head back to Aix so we decided to see what nearby Apt was like.  It never made it into my plans, but a few people on our journey had piqued my interest.

All the sunflower fields we passed today were dead.  It was sad.

We finally found a lavender field!

Can you smell it?

Beautiful brightly colored shutters in an Apt alley

A good name for a cafe!

Logistics:
- Provence has many towns.  Before you head off to Apt, consider that it is located between two mountains.  Between the bicyclists and high amount of oncoming cars in our lane, the winding, narrow pass was unnerving.
